This is Independent module completed at the end of my Second year at university; the module brief allowed me to chose a costume of my own choice from a film or stage performance. I decide on making a costume from the film ‘Young Victoria’ released in 2009, the film depicts the early years of Queen Victoria’s Life and becoming Queen. The costume I chose to remake is an evening dress worn by the character that plays Victoria character, which she wears to a state occasion. At this point in the film she has not become Queen but is soon to become queen, this costume depicts her Youth and Beauty. The dress was referenced from the original Design sketched by Costume Designer Sandy Powell, not the dress that features in the film; the dress is made from Yellow silk Taffeta, white Tulle, Vintage Lace and floral embellishment. The dress is accompanied by undergarment to produce a historically accurate style of period costume.
